Ellie Caulkins Opera House is a modern opera house built within the historic shell of the Quigg Newton Denver Municipal Auditorium at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Its 2,225 seats are arranged across four levels—orchestra, mezzanine, loge and balcony—making the venue an important destination for opera, ballet and touring stage productions, as well as the home theatre of Opera Colorado and Colorado Ballet.
Designed in the lyric theatre style, the auditorium places particular emphasis on acoustical excellence and clear sightlines from its different seating levels. A seatback titling system is installed at every seat, helping audiences follow the story during many opera and ballet performances. Artwork in the lobby and food and drink options within the complex add to the overall experience before a performance or during an interval.
The venue is located at 1385 Curtis St, Denver, United States. The main pedestrian access to the complex is at the intersection of 14th Street and Curtis Street, while the opera house entrance stands near the beginning of the covered Galleria. An on-site parking garage is available, with its primary vehicle entrance on Arapahoe Street between 13th Street and 14th Street.
