Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre is a historic theatre in downtown New Braunfels, housed in a 1942 building that originally operated as a movie theatre. Its distinctive Art Moderne design features a vertical neon sign, projecting marquee and characteristic porthole windows. Following restoration, the venue reopened in 2000 as a performing arts theatre and has been listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 2008. The auditorium has a capacity of 584, with 325 seats on the main floor and 259 in the balcony.
Inside, the theatre combines the character of a classic cinema with the functionality required for modern live performances. Its floor-and-balcony layout creates a relatively intimate connection between the audience and the stage, making the venue suitable for concerts, theatrical productions, dance performances and other stage events.
