Providence Veterans Memorial Auditorium, also known as The VETS, is a monumental theater and performing arts venue in Providence, distinguished by its classically inspired architecture and its longstanding role in Rhode Island's cultural life. The main auditorium offers approximately 2,015 seats, while its large proscenium stage accommodates concerts, theater productions, dance performances and other live events. The building combines a historic architectural character with the facilities expected from a modern performance venue.
The interior is one of the venue's defining features, with excellent acoustics, a spacious stage and decorative details that reinforce its historic atmosphere. Particularly distinctive is the ceiling featuring the shields of Rhode Island's original 39 communities. The auditorium creates a more intimate experience than a large arena, while renovated areas and additional event spaces can support receptions and other activities connected with performances.
The venue is located at 1 Avenue of the Arts, Providence, United States, opposite the Rhode Island State House. Visitor parking is available directly in front of the building, with access from Park Street, while the Providence Place parking garage is situated behind the theater and provides convenient pedestrian access toward the main entrance.
